Current status
As the integrated project management partner for the project, Wood continues to support Turkish Petroleum as they move from phase 1 into phase 2 of the development.
Phase 1 included engineering, procurement and installation of the subsea production system of 10 wells, gas transport and MEG pipelines, umbilical, and onshore processing facility, which has now been completed, and the gas from the field is in production.
Phase 2 involves further development of the field with up to an additional 30 wells. Work began in 2023 and involves a Floating Production Unit to process the produced gas offshore and deliver it to the grid using another gas transport pipeline.
On completion, the Sakarya Gas Field is expected to meet approximately 30% of Turkey’s domestic natural gas demands.
Accelerated delivery and an agile approach
Throughout phase 1, Turkish Petroleum and Wood executed a fast-track delivery with integrated digitalisation and operations readiness and assurance campaign, which included pre-FEED, FEED, EPCI and operational phases, providing the necessary management and engineering support, documentation and data systems to enable safe and efficient start-up, in preparation of first gas. Accelerated delivery and an agile approach, in line with Turkish Petroleum’s project management and asset operation strategy, ensured a focus for the team, coming together to collaborate and deliver against a tight timeline.
Wood mobilised key resources and utilised established internal technology platforms to enable the development and delivery of asset-specific technology platforms, including an integrated maintenance database and an application to provide a comprehensive asset integrity management system.
Focus and momentum
Providing highly skilled engineers, technical authorities and in-house systems, we supported Turkish Petroleum to execute phase 1 of the project safely, on time, and without compromising on quality.
